IR question

I am looking to buy an IR set up for my TV audio/video components. I plan on putting my reciever, HTPC, DVD player and Cable box in a cabinet with solid doors. (there will be pasive ventilation from the bottom and rear) This will be my first IR project. I think I need an emitter for each piece of equipment, a reciever that will be in view for the controls and a connecting block with power supply. I am I in the right direction?

Could you advise what brand names are good? What dealers are good to buy these products from?

Thanks all....

Thanks for the reply.
I was thinking of something like this on back of my AV cabinet:
connecting block
And something like this in the wall:
IR reciever
With emitters from my AV equip to the connecting block.
Am I heading in the right direction? Is Automated outlet the way to go?

Thanks

PS Is this threead better suited in the HT or Hardware forum?

Paulh,
That is exactly what I was talking about. Thanks for the reply.

Can someone explain why you need to buy certain products that are OK to use with plasma TVs?

I have a new Panny 42 600 U plasma. The plasma kits are double in price. Is it really necessary?

Thanks for the advice

Also would the sugesstion by rfdesq work with plasma:
URC RFS200 PowerPak Bundle

Plasma sets generate MASSIVE Random IR into the area, to compensate for this the IR detector needs to have an extensive filtering system, thus the extra cost.

I don't know about that remote, however, if it is RF and not IR then it 'should' work
can someone else help?

PaulH,
I went with the exact kit you suggested. Xantech 291. I have it under my plasma and I have had no problems whatsoever. It works great! I will be getting a Universal remote MX-500 this week to clean up all my remotes. Thanks again for the advise.
