Longer DS10A Wire's

Hi,

I was curious about making the wire leads longer so I can mount a DS10A base about 5 or so feet from the door (to hide it better). Is there any downside in doing this? Is it just a matter of cutting & splicing new wires?

I know its pretty basic but are there any writeup's on this sort of thing (with plus's & minus's)?

you can make the leads to the switch as long as you need with no ill effect.

exactly. I have hacked those things up so many times. you can hook them to about anything and use different wire, LONG lengths, etc...

Have fun and experiment with them, they are only $5 anyways.

If you get the new ones (Rat Shack 49-1001 or equiv.), they come with screw terminals for zero hacking required!
