Lorex Security Camera

I saw this camera at Home Depot today for $50. It has both color and B&W/IR night capability. Looked like a new item the store was carrying (big display with none purchased yet).

I just bought a similar camera. It's black and white only with 8 IR leds. It's small and the IR LEDs are pretty much useless. It works a whole lot better than the X10 color cams but you get what you pay for. If you decide to get on please post a link so we all can view the quality. You can preview it here.

What is the LUX?

LUX is a measure of the intensity of light. It is based on the age-old measure called the 'candle'. One LUX is equal to one meter-candle.

According to their spec sheet on the web

It is CMOS 320 H x 240 V - thats pretty low resolution
2.0 Lux, 0 Lux with LEDs
It automatically switches to B&W under low light conditions.

It has 6 LEDs. These will illuminate no more than about 6 feet I would guess based on another B&W camera I have that also has 6 LEDs.

Sort of depends what you want to monitor with the camera. Is a "body" there: yes/no; or do you want the face to be accurately recognized.
