Does anyone know of a decent natural gas detector for use with an alarm panel? I had a stand alone unit that went bad and want to replace it with a detector hooked up to my M1.

There doesnt seem to be a lot out there that I can find.

Thanks!

I found that at Bass Alarms for $102.95 each. I just did some digging and I can get it on sale for $29.95 at a place called Electronic Goldmine.

For $30 each I will probably put two in my basement utility room.

Thanks for the help!!! !! !!

That is a big swing in price. Surprising.

I have always found Bass to be expensive. You have to shop around.

I find that if I search enough I can get a good deal such as the following all brand new in the box:

6 Costar CO Detectors for about $100 TOTAL

4 System Sensor 4WB Smoke Detectors for $125 TOTAL

5 Flood Sensors for $25 TOTAL

4 GE Pet Immune Motions for $30 TOTAL

Total includes shipping.

Not HA related but I bought a 4 hour battery for my camcorder at PC Richards for $99 and I got the same battery for about $15 on the Net.

I am tight on money right now but for $30 I plan on getting one or two of those detectors. I have a ton of stuff to sell on ebay and then I will have some more play money.

I believe this is the one that digger found:

Question: Where is the best place to install these? I have a pier/beam house with gas lines in the crawl space below the house. There is a line that comes into the house and then branches off to the hot water heater, dryer, fireplace, HVAC, etc. It is an older house that once had gas space heaters, but these have been plugged off.

Since there are lines running under the house with T's, 45's and unions, etc, there could be potentially a leak anywhere in the crawl space. How close to a leak do these need to be to detect it?

That is the detector I found. Its a good deal in my opinion.

My situation is the gas comes into the Utility/laundry room which is about 200 sq feet or so. I was going to buy two and place one on each end of the room. but one technically would be enough I have a furnace, a water heater, and a dryer that all use gas and are located in that room.

Is the crawl space you mentioned subject to temperatures below freezing? The detector may only be rated to 0 C (32 F) and would not be for use in that area if it falls below that temperature.
