New WiFi Smart Ceiling Fan Control and Dimmer Light to Tasmota

Were can you even still find fans that you can control with a switch? I wish you could find them but they don't exist anymore.

I gave up on the update of firmware. The ESP chip was on a board under the main power board. The main power board was soldered to the esp board. Trying to remove entire thread and could not. I used to be able to do this.

Use the search term 'pull chain'. My favorite fan distributor recently went out of business, but their website allowed a search for simple pull chain control. Tried the search on Wayfair and found many hits.

Unfortunately they are only the most low-end fans, like you find in a cheap hotel.

Here the electrician wired all of the existing fans to the wall switch with separate wires for light and fans. This is in the midwest.

Its been like this in the last three homes.

I just finished putting shades in the skylights here in the 2 story great room. We couldn't find anyone to do this because of the height of the skylights.

Now looking to add a fan(s) to the great room. Current we have a large LED light (seldom used) which I installed and the jbox is wired for both light and fan.

In Arizona, where just about every room has a ceiling fan, its the same, one switch for the light, one for the fan. Its been like that for at least 25 years. Even that is a pain. So we bought a fan with no light, just a fan with a remote, and I installed it with a UPB relay switch. So I was hoping the fan could remember its setting when I turned on the switch. Nope and its even worse. Not only did it not remember its setting, but you had to power on the switch and wait 5 to 10 minutes before you could even turn on the fan with the remote.

Never used UPB for any fan / light combos. The Tasmota-Treatlife combos are working well and just recently saw an update for Tasmota.

They work well with dimming / fan speed and lately grouping Tasmota switches (sort of like UPB Links).

The Russound speaker is connected to the Home Assistant Voice / speaker cube that I am using for Home Assistant TTS.
