NX148 Connection wiring

Hi all,

I am installing my Caddx NX8E and NX148 LCD keypad this weekend and would like some suggestions on what wire to use to connect the NX8E and the NX148 LCD keypad.

I have about a 100ft of Cat 3 that I have never used and would like to use it for the controller to keypad connection. The run will be about 30 feet. I think that Cat 5 might be overkill. The NX8e manual does not really specify the type of cable, only the wire size. This Cat 3 cable consists of four pairs of twisted 24 gage solid conductor wires. Think that it will work?

CAT3 will work with no problem on that wire run.

That will work. I use four conductor 22 awg non-twisted pair wiring between my NX-148 keypad and NX8e. Cat5e is way overkill for this run.

Hi all,

Got my Cadxx NX8E up and running today without too much of a problem.

It was a challenge learning how to program it, but I got the job done and the wife was really impressed.

Thanks for the help with the LCD wiring.

The next step will be getting it to communicate with my Stargate SG-IP.

I have the Caddx serial interface cable and will whip up a DB9M to Stargate comm port adapter tomorrow.
