It has been brought to my attention that it is hard to find Home Automation Users groups in select areas. So I am creating an official list and will be also creating a dedicated web site for the list. If you belong to a users group or know of one please post or PM me the following information;

Group Name:
Web Address
Region:
Primary Contact Name and email:
Secondary Contact Name and email:
Phone Number if one:
Meeting Schedule:

New York is a BIG state. There are a few people from Long Island and a few people from upstate here that I m aware of. No Groups though that I am aware of.

Cool, thanks. I am from Long Island and was interested to speak with/meet locals that can help me along.

TLC,

I am from Western Suffolk not far off RTE 231. I believe that Mike is not to far from me as well.

Glad to see there are a few local automators.

I'm in Smithtown, and although we aren't technically a storefront, you can always stop in.

Also, since it's somewhat timely and topic appropriate, we are hosting a free training seminar for UPB product installation. Currently it is restricted to installers only, but just so you DIYers don't feel left out, I would be more then happy to have another one open to the DIY crowd as well.

If you are an installer/dealer etc, please feel free to contact me to reserve a spot. The date is June 6th at 9am in Islandia.

Digger, you must be one of my neighbors practically, i'm on Park ave north of Pulaski (my home...not my office).

Un-Wired,

I am in Deer Park about 4 or 5 miles south of you I guess.

I bought a few things from SmartHome USA over the years as well.

Hmm. I grew up in upstate NY [east fishkill which is a suburb of wappingers falls which is a suburb poughkeepsie, 70 miles up from the city].

Small world indeed. Either that, or NY'ers love automation...

If Poughkeepsie is considered "Upstate" at only 70 miles North of the city, what do you consider Malone at 370 miles North? Extra extreme upstate?

I, on the other hand, consider anything South of Albany to be Downstate NY. (And anything North of North Syracuse to be Canada).

Well, when I was there (went to RPI in '86, moved to DC in '90), no one used the "Downstate" term. Actually, if you looked at the NYTimes from back then, they even had the term "upstate NY" in the real estate listings, and as far south as Beacon was considered upstate.

Although true, now that "Downstate NY" is a commonly used term, I suppose that's a better description.

We Lawn Guylanders consider anything North of the Bronx to be upstate, anything more North then that is Canada.

I actually live in walking distance to the SmarthomeUSA office. I should walk over and introduce.......... B)
