Our New Office Project

So I tried to post this in showcase a week ago, nothing ever happened, so here goes in this forum.

So we built a new office and wanted to do as much automation as possible and do all our wiring as neat as possible.

We're using an OmniTouch II Pro controller with 3 expansion panels (2 are hooked up right now). We also have relay boards going into each panel as well. This will handle our lighting controls/automation and alarm. Fire is seperate provided by building owner. There are 4 thermostats in 4 zones. We're using the Z-Wave devices because we have 4 different electrical meters in our space (reasoning: original plans had the space seperated for 4 tenants, new construction too, we are first tenants so we gutted it once they got the sign off). Our access control is a Keyscan System VII panel (well 2 of them for 10 doors total). We use a combination of mags and strikes. Surveillance is a 32 channel GeoVision DVR which we built (its what we do actually, all our equipment is what we do for a living). We pre-wired everything and still have a lot to do, but its getting there. Most of it is IR controls at this point as the lighting controls/security/access/surveillance all work. We're still tweeking access control and integrating it into our phones/mobile phones (phones being our panasonic phone system in the office) Here are some photos though:

Starting to make wire bundles in our server room (its all looped like that so we can have the tile installed)

Installing servers

All but a few panels installed on back wall (all wires go through the rear of each panel so we don't see them when the panels are all closed, and its tripple thickness stuff... its Drywall - Plywood - Drywall)

Since my office is next to the server room, i figured id mount my cable box/receiver in the rack. The PC right under the receiver is my HTPC

And i just realized i don't have any photos of the conference room yet... that stinks, i'll have to take some. I havnt taken any photos in a few months since we've progressed. But theres a 50" plasma in the conference room and a 105" screen that drops down, along with a 1080p projector and 7.1 surround.

Heres our OmniTouch though in our conference room

Anyway work in progress.

Looks like alot of Great work going on there...

As for the showcase, check out the "blog" feature, this is exactly what it is for

Fantastic job!

How do you run power to the racks? From above? Floor level?

How about power to the enclosures?

Have you considered a touchscreen for the reception desk/foyer area?

What about control at the conference room table or PC, for the presenter?

Power to the racks: From above. We have the twist locks above each rack. I believe its a 20amp breaker i forget
Power for enclosure, goes out the hole in back of enclosure, up the wall and into a power strip above wall. We have power outlets above where the "ceiling tile" will be (we took all the tiles down to help us install equipment). Theres also a battery backup on the power strips.

Possibly a touch screen once our reception area is complete. Right now we have a desk and a sign. no table or anything else yet, the TV is broke that we received so we have to get that swapped out as well. we also need to hookup the receptionist audio control wires so she can control the volume for speakers (we have audio throughout the building in the hallways and reception area, but its not hooked up because no volume control knob yet)

Conference room table has a wireless keyboard/mouse that goes back to a HTPC i built. I'll also be installing a smaller pc probably inside the cabinet under the table and putting a touch screen interface in for HAI.

I posted in the showcase, but nobody ever approved it... figured after a week i'd post in a different area of the message board

Here are some more photos from today:

My office (we have a 32 channel DVR but i only view the cameras i like)
Shown is my 32" 1080p screen, on my desk is my iphone adapter which sends component video to the tv. Audio goes to my receiver. My computer also has digital audio going to the receiver as well as a 2nd video card so it acts as a 3rd monitor on the wall. Theres a 10" sub behind me and 5.1 speakers. I also have a HTPC i built setup for movies/music and a cable box.

My workshop
5013209314_b37f14b599_b.jpg

Only real automation in the workshop/server room is the thermostats, lights... and when we open our server room door the lights come on automatically (senses the door contact went into a tripped state)

Reception area... tv is going on the wall but its broken. This will be automated so when the alarm is armed, lights go off (which is does currently) and the tv also turns off as well as the music
