Howdy,
After browsing around for a while, I've come to the conclusion that plasma proof IR receivers are still really freakin' expensive for what they do.
So, that leads me to ask this question: If one plans to mount the receiver in a recessed location from the plasma display (facing out of the same wall the plasma is mounted to), can you get away with a CFL-friendly receiver?
I can understand if your receiver was pointed towards the face of the plasma, but surely the noise reflected back from walls, etc. can't be that overwhelming for the CFL model?
The reason I ask is I have a plasma receiver already but I need to get another one because the reception range (khz-wise) isn't going to work for my remotes. I'm not keen about spending yet another $200ish for essentially the same thing if I can avoid it.
Thanks!
Shane
