Replacing a 33A00-1 keypad console

I have a Leviton branded keypad console that started acting up this week. At first it was random beeps. Then I started having lights go out randomly (sometimes EVERY light in/outside), around the same time as the beeps happening. The last time, the console display showed "Enter link" and wouldnt stop beeping, so I unplugged it from the wall.

I am thinking it needs to be replaced, but not sure what that entails. I can order new one's on ebay. Can someone tell me what I need to do to "make it work" once I connect the new one?

Just unplug the old one and plug the new one in. If you have more than one console, you will want to set the console number to the same as the last one.

From the manual:

CONSOLE SETUP
The console has different operating options that can be setup from the console to the user's preference. If more than one console is being used, it is required that you give each console a different address. You can change the address of a console through the console setup mode.
To enter the console setup mode, simultaneously press and hold the 4 and up arrow (␣) for approximately 1 second. The console will beep 5 times and enter the setup mode. The top line of the display will indicate what you are doing, followed by the current setting. The bottom line will show a menu of your options. To the lower right corner of the display is the direction arrow(s). Where possible, the up (↑), down (↓), and two-headed (↕) arrow characters are shown on the console display to indicate which arrow keys may be pressed at that time. Press the down arrow (Ð) key to advance to the next item. Press the up arrow (␣) key to go back to the previous item.

CONSOLE ADDRESS
If you are installing more than one console, each console must be set to a different address. The default address setting is (1) - this is adequate if only one console is being used. The choices at the bottom are 1-16. When making your choice, choose an address between 1-8, then press the # (pound) key.

So unfortunately I am getting the same random beeping error with the new keypad console. I have another keypad console (HAI branded) which isn't beeping, and 2 touchscreens (one connected to an expansion panel), which also aren't beeping.

I looked at the wiring, and didn't see anything obviously broken. At the panel, 3 consoles are wired together, and then connected to the panel, so I figured any wiring issues directly to the panel would affect all 3, right? So what else could cause the issue on only one of the 3 consoles wired together?

I’m not 100% sure what to be looking for. I see a tiny nick in the insulation on one wire, but this thing has been installed since 2007. Although a couple years back the original HAI keypad stopped working and a new Leviton one was installed. But the wires were not changed either. Just the keypad.

You may want to recrimp the yellow butt splices to be safe. This can be a problem over time especially if you are using solid wire instead of stranded.

Meaning remove the splices and redo them? Or just crimp what’s already there?

done. Just cut off the main wire that runs to the panel to eliminate any nicks from the initial installation. I used the new connector cable and splices that came with the new console and replaced everything. I guess now we wait and hopefully no random beeps. They’ve been happening a few times an hour so I should know soon if it happens again…

I’m at a loss here.

BTW I also have an HAI wireless receiver. It is spliced into the wires behind one of my touchscreens (the touchscreen that is also spliced into the wires shared by the 2 keypads before they all connect to the panel) . Again, been installed this way since 2013. But I read in another thread that the wireless can sometimes cause issues like this.

What’s the simplest way to test removing the wireless receiver from the equation? Can I just unscrew (some of) these wires to power it off?

Ok, so I disconnected the power from the wireless receiver and now waiting to see what happens.

If this somehow stops the random beeping like it has for others, has anyone found an alternative, or at least a reason why the wireless receiver causes the issue? Is factory resetting it an option to use it again? Is there another version out there or some other wireless system for door/window/motion sensors I could integrate with the Omni panel?

I have a couple wireless sensors around the house that I’d like to keep (and 2 key fobs, which I really don’t need).
