Security devices for Elk

Hi,

I'm planning my Elk installation and need to following:

Window and door mag. contact sensors
Motion sensors
Glass break sensors
Smoke detectors
Thermostat

These all need to work well with an Elk system. Can the Elk owners here share the brands/models and stores where you got your devices from?

Also, what Elk addons do I need to interface with my home network and with Insteon?

Most are just preference as most any will work with Elk.

For thermostats I like Aprilaire.

For Insteon you need the serial expander

FYI. Be aware that the Caddx wireless PIR Motion Detectors transmit movement every 3 minutes only. If you want it for security it works fine but for automation it will not tell the controller about all movements that happen in the room.

Motion sensors
Wired preferred, Clip or Spy are more $ but small and good, otherwise pick type you need - wide, curtain, etc.
Glass break sensors
Surface or recessed - Sentrol is good
Smoke detectors
2 wire or 4 wire?, System Sensor or GE good
Thermostat
HAI, RCS, Aprilaire (Least to most $$$)

Need M1XEP Ethernet module for network and M1XSP serial expander with special Insteon firmware for Insteon.
