What would be cool....

...(besides an all house-code remote with lighted keypad - that would be the coolest) ...

is a home automation software package that would import configurations from other programs. It's a drag having to recreate devices every time you look at a different program.

Just had to get that out... thanks for letting me share. ;-)

Thanks

I used Homeseer 1.7 for a bit and it's just a bit too busy for me. Now I'm checking out Home Control Assistant.

I'm probably going to break down and get another Mac just to run Indigo before it's all over. Indigo is just right for what I want to do and there's just not any Windows x10 software that compares IMHO - at least that I can find. Simple and straightforward - that's what I like. ;-)

Thanks,
Thomas

Have you tried charmed quark. I am not sure what you mean by busy but if you mean the forums then CQC is not busy just yet and if you mean the application is too busy then CQC is probably not for you because its really a powerful software solution and may have more features then your heart desires.

You are never going to get your wish to come true except with maybe the open source programs. The programs are just so very differnt and some attempt to protect their configuration for security reasons. So I would say keep trying and find the one you like. Go ahead and buy it and get a year or two use out of it. When that program stops offering you what you want you will then try to find a hardware solution to do the same thing.

The ELK seems to be very powerful and if you are looking for something pretty simple and straight forward you may want to look into it a little deeper. Some features like "any telephone connected to the elk is a keypad" really go a long way.

Yea the old 1.7 interface was a bit busy but the new interface is web based and there's only a couple of options on the GUI. Events and Devices are the bulk of the Interface now.
