Why security cameras are a good idea ...

This is why I always tell people that it is a good idea to send webcam snapshots from a security camera to a remote server, using email or FTP, in case the equipment gets stolen. A burglar in the UK did just that, but thanks to the email notifications, still got busted. Pretty interesting read, and probably something most of us do by now:

Score one for the geeks! Yahoo!! But it'll just teach the burglars to cut phone lines first. Of course, we could counter with something like network attached storage devices in the attic that they wouldn't find... hehehe

In the US, though, I can imagine being sued by the burglar for invasion of privacy.
