Wiring question? Will CAT5 work for keypad/wireless receiver

I recently posted a question on keypads, i thought I had it figured out by using an iPad with wifi as my keypad replacement but that may not work ideally as I originally thought. Unfortunately I am finding my wireless coverage to the garage unreliable so need to add another Wireless receiver. I have a spare CAT5 cable running to the garage which could be connected into the OPII panel. Would this cable work if I used 4 wires for a keypad and 4 wires for a wireless receiver? The cable run is about 100 feet.

Appreciate all feedback

Are you talking about an HAI/Leviton wireless receiver?  If you have the 42A00-2 wireless receiver for GE type sensors, check around because there are several wireless repeaters available that only require power and nothing else. I use this one: http://www.homesecuritystore.com/alarm-systems/alarm-accessories/rf-receivers/ge-interlogix-80-922-1?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=pla&gclid=CJKIs7Pc978CFYVDMgod_HoAqw

You can install it halfway between you receiver and the garage, and it should fill in all the holes.  It even has battery backup.

If you have the 45A00-1, you are probably out of luck, because they don't make a repeater for that as far as I know.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I am using the HAI 45A00-1 receiver.

As I didn't get any replies I'll take it that no forum users have used CAT5 wiring for their systems.  i tested the wire with both a keypad and the wireless receiver and it worked perfectly.  The cable length was about 75 feet of CAT5 which was terminated and then about 20 feet of CAT6 cable.  I'm posting this for the benefit of others which may have a similar situation and need to use CAT5 wires.
