I've been looking at XMPP for realtime communication with devices and dynamically changing status - ala Internet of Things (IoT). So I started with Openfire Server;. I wanted to find a chat client to work with Openfire. Someone had created a .war to use Jappix. It works well. PM me if you're interested.
So I took a look at http://Jappix.com. Nice Interface. Works great, but it wasn't anything I could easily integrate into Premise - and I didn't want firewall issues. Then I found http://mini.jappix.com
First, you register with Jappix; create a multi User Chat (MUC), then a couple lines of Jappix-generated code, place it into the MB HEAD tags - and you have a pseudo-integrated chat for the Premise MB. (I caveat it as pseudo as it makes a trip to the Jappix hosted chat server)
Works well! Integrated into the Premise MB you can access chat if you can hit your Premise server.
