I have HAI Omni Pro II controller, connected to Nuvo GC, with 4 different music sources (AppleTv, Yamaha receiver, DVD player, Sonos), and also Haiku app and helper and Space program.   I would like to automate everything for wife, it's too complicated for her.  I tried the IRule with gmail account, but just couldn't syn on the iphone.  IRule has the Hai module.

Mainly use to automatically play the music like from Spotify, then it Airplay to either AppleTV or the receiver, and automatically picks the zone of choice.  Presently, I have open up each app- first Spotify, then send as Airplay, and go back to Haiku to turn the zone, and pick the source.

Any pros and cons with each program

Modern remote controls are able to learn commands from a manufacturer's remote by reading the IR signal from the manufacturer's remote. You aim the original remote at the universal remote control and teach commands one button at a time. To find a universal remote that is capable of learning your particular collection of devices will take some research and maybe even some trial and error on your part.

Two popular brands are Universal Remote Control (URC) and Harmony. The more expensive controls can even be programmed by PC software and then the program saved to the hard drive.

Mike.

Thanks Mike.  I'm trying both of them Irule and Roomieremote, just placed an order for the Roomie blaster.  It seems Roomie is a lot easier to program than the IRue, but IRule has the HAI module.   I probably will also order the Harmony Ultimate remote for the kids to use.

Hi Rugao - It sounds like I have a similar setup as you and I'm also trying to see if I can use Roomie for controlling audio. My wife relies on my to turn on audio or she has to perform multiple steps - turn on Spotify then Airport Express, then HAI Haiku audio zone. I've setup Roomie for TV's, Receivers, cable boxes and Apple TV. The single button commands are working well with my kids and wife. I have an HAI OmniPro II, with Russound multi zone audio.

Did you figure out a way to connect your OmniPro to Roomie? That would be ideal to create activities for audio in the house. I haven't looked into iRule but sounds like that might have better integration with HAI.
