Replace 2006 HAI Omni II?

My Home (built 2006) came with a HAI OMNI II (model 20A00-1).
It has only been set up to act as an alarm system. None of the other HA features were ever set up.
(alarm system hard wired for 32 windows, 9 doors and two motion detectors.)
I would like to modernize the security system with touchpad controllers and smart phone connectivity.
Do I need to replace the mother board or can I just add some upgrades?
If I need to replace the mother board, what would you recommend?

Although your board is an older model, it is still quite capable. Compared to newer models, yours can only be upgraded via a firmware chip swap versus the newer models that are flash upgradeable. Additionally, yours only has 3 expansion serial ports versus the newer models that have 5. Other than those two differences, you're good to go for adding upgrades.

I'd recommend that you upgrade your firmware chip if you are not already at firmware version 3.14A.  Chips can be purchased from Worthington Distribution http://www.worthingtondistribution.com/
 
I'd recommend you take a look at Space (Haiku) for smart phone connectivity and possibly as a touch screen...
