IKEA LED bulbs

A few days ago I had a chance to go to an Ikea store while traveling. They have quite a selection of LED bulbs with different bases, etc. They are labeled as having 25,000 hour life but wonder how true that is. Good prices if it's true. They are private labeled and no indication of who is making them. Anyone have any experience with these?

The Ikea bulbs don't get a terribly good review from cnet.

"With diminished brightness, lower efficiency, and no warranty whatsoever, these bulbs aren't exactly no-compromise."

I've been buying Cree because they are made here in North Carolina in spite of the fact that some are cheaper.

LED bulbs are being released at a fast pace.
I saw a CNET story on a new Philips LED bulb that is going to be less than $5.00 and a deal with Homedepot for May and June. A two pack of them for the same $4.97. Though early reviews where no too kind on the Candlepower Forums.
I have even seen  Curtis Mathes brand LED Bulbs.

I just picked up four of the Cree 4Flow, 60W equivalents (two warm, and, two cool) from Home Depot for ~$5 each. Really nice color, and, light output on both. They dim alright, too.

You can order the Philips 60W bulbs now on the Home Depot web site. Currently backordered with delivery expected around the end of May.

I think these lifetime claims and the warranty, for that matter, are there for one and one reason only; they want you to choose to buy the bulb when you are looking at it.  Marketing and NOTHING else.

First, if there is no warranty, they can pretty much say whatever they want.  What are you going to do if your 25,000 hour bulb dies in 24,000 hours, OR 5000, or 1000?

Second, lets say they do have a warranty like some recent Cree bulbs I bought. One died in a few days, the other a few weeks. If they are very recently purchased, you can return them to where you got them, but then its really just Home depot or Walmart taking the lose.  So back to Cree and the "warranty."  I didn't keep the packing of warranty text for the Cree bulb that died, so i went back to the store to read the warranty.  To get a new bulb just send the bulb to them with ME paying the postage, and include my cash register receipt.  So I need to spend $6 to send them back their defective $8 bulb, assuming I have a copy of the cash register receipt. Then wait 6 to 8 weeks or more for my new bulb.  Anyone see a problem with that?

I'm surprised to hear that you've had so many LED bulbs fail. I have about a  dozen of them around the house and four of them are outside and haven't had a failure in a couple of years. I've been very happy in that respect compared to the CFL's and cheap incandescent.
