Hello Everone,

Just about to jump into the home automation world. At least beyond X10 modules. It recently began with a simple alarm system search. Which at one point brought me here where I discovered combo security/automation platforms.  Now I'm hooked and I currently own nothing, except a box of X10 items. However I'm not surprised because I have a technical background and work in machine automation...so why not automate the home.  So now I need to build a system. I believe I settled on the Elk M1 as a starting point.  I appreciate all the useful information you nice people have provided in the forums as I'm sure at one point it may be necessary.

Welcome to Cocoontech, Frost1 !

I started down a similar path a few years ago, having just X10, then adding an Elk M1.  There is lots to think about and lots to learn with all the choices that are available today.  Ask questions as you go, since there are frequently others who have done something similar and have experiences to share.

Thank you RAL,

You have been very helpful as I've already learned quite a bit from your posts. Thank you for that and I look forward to the journey.
