My cheap idea for fixing uneven air temps in different rooms

I installed one a few years ago They're very effective at sucking all the smoke out of the house when the wife burns the dinner too.

    Premise Transmitting UPB Links

acalbear is correct about the subscript. You won't see the same button press twice in the top echelon register since there is no change. You can easily overcome this by coding a timer so the top register is cleared if it doesn't equal "0" or null or something you recognize as a cleared state...

    Premise Transmitting UPB Links

Does the Premise driver listen for incoming messages? If not, then forget it. If so, it should be easy and only a matter of proper configurations. I don't know anything about Premise. sorry. I wrote my own UPB driver for a basic co-processor that interfaces with my controller.

    Wanted: Security Camera Suggestions

What climate are you in? I am in Omaha and the winters get very cold. For that reason and cost, I use nuvico dome cameras with the built in fan and heater. The heater switches on automatically at about 40f I think. They worked great this past winter which was very cold. I think I paid ~225...

    Why is insteon so infamous?

I endorse UPB because I needed to write my own driver and the full protocol was published and easy to understand. I have all Gen 1 devices and never felt the need to upgrade. I notice the delay, but since I know it's deliberate, I'm alright with it and so is the family - I wouldn't change them...

    Extreme Makeover:

I get it - bait and switch. How many end-user installations really look like that? Moreover, it's not even practical if you need to add or modify something in the system.

    Extreme Makeover:

Personally, I like the old version better. I would've put all that time into adding some new devices or taking a vacation. I don't see any functional difference with the plastic door. There's really nothing to see anyway, if you care to, just open the door.

    Autmoating Sprinklers with M1

Sorry to jump in, but the limiting part (at least) is the output transistor in the elk. If you don't use a relay, you will most likely overload your elk's transistor when your sprinkler solenoid coil draws electrical current in excess of the specs on the elks outputs. The current from your...

    Read firmware via RS-232 Protocol?

RS-232 is not a protocol. It is an electrical standard for connecting two devices together to communicate serially. The protocol is how the signal sent over the wires is interpreted.

    Remote Relay Box

Yes - car type remote Relays respond to button presses. It is an awesome idea! I have the receiver unit installed on the inside of the footer between the first floor joists. I get about a 50-75' radius on the outside and inside I get reception anywhere in my 1800ft^2 raised ranch. It's UHF so...

    Remote Relay Box

It is a 10-channel UHF remote control kit with rolling code security. I forgot to put the keychain remote in the pictures to help clarify - sorry. Just wire the relay contacts into your controllers inputs and you have a 10-channel remote control for your HA purposes. I have mine for alarm...
