Being a cop in a city of 200,000 we categorize our alarm calls as "priority 2" meaning they must be dispatched within 1 minute. Every veteran cop knows a good alarm when it goes out over the radio just by hearing what type of sensors were activated: glass break sensor and motion sensor or an...
I've noticed that my keypad will flash bright for a split second every now-and-then. The keypad is normally set to level one brightness but flashes to full for a fraction of a second then returns to normal. There is no set time when it does this but it has caught my attention several times in...
I can attest that they are great. I posted a question on the forum in reference to an ELK rule and got a response within 7 hours from them! So thanks a bunch!!!
Still you are out a thousand dollars. They should last more than 2 years.
Yeah, but two years from now this will be merely a memory. I shall be in a better financial position to afford the quality that the wife deserves.
yeah, I know the feeling...luckily I had mine only a few days when it failed so I got an exchange. I figure I'm in less than $1000 and as they begin to fail and out of warranty I will switch to something else - two years hopefully I can get out of the Insteon stuff before I see the failures...
Thanks, sharby and Spanky.
I will go home tonight and try that...
I knew there was something with a output timer but couldn't get it figured out...maybe I need to try programming the rules whilst not under the influence!!!
Here is what I want to do:
Whenever the alarm is triggered in away mode I want the Elk to call my cell phone...but only if the alarm is not disarmed.
For some reason I cannot prevent the elk from calling my cell phone even after I disarm,
I have tried a rule to call me if the Entry Delay...
I would suggest the ELK along with a couple (3-4) strategically placed motion sensors inside common areas (ie. hallways, entry rooms).
As a police officer I worked a burglary once where the homeowner installed a siren to a motion sensor in a hallway. The burglar kicked in the back door and...
Digger, I feel for ya man!
Does this mean we won't be hearing from ya on these forums (I actually looked forward to coming here daily to read the ongoing saga with SH)? I hope you continue to contribute to the forum.
I still think they are giving you the run-around about the RMA's (I was...
Well, don't know if it is an issue but that was the problem with one switch of 6 that I installed (have another 6 (untested) still in the box. Just wouldn't link no matter what...worked fine for a day...then when I unlinked it wouldn't re-link. However, I was a gentlemen when I dealt with SH...
I am happy for ya Dig...
I've been following your adventures with SH for awhile. I thought of you when I experienced my first Insteon switch failure and again when I made the call to SH tech to troubleshoot the switch. (I firmly believe that your posts were made required reading over at...
Unless SH goes "belly-up" I can only see their products improving. Insteon has found a niche with affordable switches in the home-automation crowd.
Their technology along with their easy return policy is what decided it for me. Overall I am very happy with my working switches: I have my...
Well, I finally experienced the dreaded insteon switch failure: Had 6 switches installed and successfully linked several. The bad switch wouldn't link no matter how many times I tried. Hard resetting didn't help either.
Finally broke down and called SH expecting the lengthy hold and...
Over the years I've learned not to upgrade software/firmware unless absolutely necessary. I don't know how many wasted hours/days were spent upgrading, getting it to work properly (sometimes failing at that) and trying to go back to the previous version. Elk's download section of their website...
