Reading the various posts and references, since I could not find an EOLR on presumably the "first" NC sensor on my Zone 1 (there is another NC sensor in this zone which I have not yet examined), one would expect, if "normal" practice was followed, that this second sensor would have the EOLR...

The easiest sensor for me to examine is the one in my garage entry door to house.  Added advantage: its the only one that I can get to without creating an opening directly to the 25 degree weather outside.  It is a "plunger" type switch, extended on open, depressed by the closed door on close. ...

I put some probes on the Zone 1 terminals ("Zone 1" and the adjacent "Common") and read 4.7K ohms.   Locating these resistors and replacing them might be problematic.  Everything is built in behind walls.  Just based on the name, I assume these EOLRs would be located at the end of the circuit...

I will check a couple of circuits with the MM and see what the readings are...

Well, this is encouraging.  I believe there were seven zones under the old system.  To best illustrate what a low level of understanding I am starting with, what is an EOLR and POTS service?   I live in the DC metro area.   And I love reading instruction manuals.
