Unable to solve loss of supervision on ELK 6051 CO Detector

Hi,   I recently installed an ELK 6051 CO Detector.   I keep getting a loss of supervision report but only on this device. All other two-way wireless devices are working fine in this regard.   The documentation doesn't say what type of supervision to use but it does say that "Loop 2" must be...

Best Wi-Fi Strategy for Home Automation

But STP relies on priority values that determine the "path" (if you will) for data.   For instance if you have a wireless path in parallel to a wired path wrong priority values can send data across the wireless path, ignoring the wired path.   Check the Sonos Forum for problems involving STP...

Best Wi-Fi Strategy for Home Automation

You have to have STP enabled and properly configured. If you don't get the priority values right you will have a mess.

Best Wi-Fi Strategy for Home Automation

Sounds like you have something wrong with your STP settings.   I had a similar problem until I got the STP priority values right.   Did you turn off the radios in the Sonos boxes that are hardwired? I eventually ran cable to all of my Sonos boxes so I could reclaim channel 11 for normal WiFi...

    Don't Buy Anyone an Echo

Having read all of the posts here with great interest I have decided I must stop talking to my wife. Her last name was Campbell and for all I know she may be a Scottish Secret Agent.   You never know...

    Don't Buy Anyone an Echo

Understood but I thought you were asking how it was possible to call an Echo device without using another Echo device.    You can choose to block folks you don't wish to hear from.

    Don't Buy Anyone an Echo

A cell phone with the Alexa app can call an Echo device assuming your contact information is on the cell phone.   Frederick

    Don't Buy Anyone an Echo

Ignorance has nothing to do with it - I understand the reality and accept it for what it is - a life without risk is a life not worth living.

    Don't Buy Anyone an Echo

I am perfectly happy with my Echo devices - paranoia does not run in my family and we have nothing to hide.

    Elk Transmitter/Low Battery

Hi,   When I get a low batter warning I fire up RP2, connect and fetch the the records from the log - this has always told me exactly what zone(s) where having low battery problems.   Frederick

    Haiku What happened to Haiku?

What sort of pain does Apple inflict on developers? I've never developed for the Apple environment (only Windows) and I know Microsoft doesn't seem to care much how their "brilliant new ideas" affect us working stiffs.   Frederick

    Trouble Port Forwarding

Not sure why you think quoting doesn't work.   I've never seen a router of recent vintage with a hub - very old tech.   DMZs are sometimes very useful.   Port forwarding is perhaps the most common approach to allowing external access. If you need two internal sub-nets to communicate use a...

    Trouble Port Forwarding

If you only have one sub-net your "routers" are not being used as routers. Perhaps you are simply using them as Wireless Access Points?   As to port forwarding: unless you are prepared to put all of the devices requiring external access on a DMZ you are going to need port forwarding.   Frederick
