  But STP relies on priority values that determine the "path" (if you will) for data.   For instance if you have a wireless path in parallel to a wired path wrong priority values can send data across the wireless path, ignoring the wired path.   Check the Sonos Forum for problems involving STP...

  You have to have STP enabled and properly configured. If you don't get the priority values right you will have a mess.

  Sounds like you have something wrong with your STP settings.   I had a similar problem until I got the STP priority values right.   Did you turn off the radios in the Sonos boxes that are hardwired? I eventually ran cable to all of my Sonos boxes so I could reclaim channel 11 for normal WiFi...

  Understood but I thought you were asking how it was possible to call an Echo device without using another Echo device.    You can choose to block folks you don't wish to hear from.

  If you only have one sub-net your "routers" are not being used as routers. Perhaps you are simply using them as Wireless Access Points?   As to port forwarding: unless you are prepared to put all of the devices requiring external access on a DMZ you are going to need port forwarding.   Frederick
