I think landscape mode is absolutely the way to go for HA with the iPad. Don't change! I can't post a link since I'm such a n00b here. You can google "walet mount" though. I like your suggestion about the recessed outlet. The Walet may accommodate... it would depend on the outlet you use.

I work for the company that makes the Walet mount. It's not a flush mount like you were hoping for (it's more of a wall-mounted pocket) but it's VESA compatible and can hang using keyholes too. Also it's made out of bamboo so it's really attractive. PS: I saw that as a representative for a...
