    Aprilaire 8800 eating batteries?

Out of curiosity, where/when did you purchase your t-stat? Both of mine were purchased on the same order from Smarthome in late 2013.

    Aprilaire 8800 eating batteries?

Just tried the second t-stat. No batteries are installed...fresh out of the box. I pulled the first one (with battery-eating problem) off the wall and installed the second (same wire connections, same baseplate, just replaced the t-stat). It powers on! I haven't set up anything, yet, but that's...

    Aprilaire 8800 eating batteries?

I'll try installing the second t-stat in place of the one I'm having problems with. Hopefully that one functions correctly. If not, and it turns out there is a mfg defect, maybe it will help narrow down the bad batch.

    Aprilaire 8800 eating batteries?

Sorry, got busy with some stuff and wasn't able to troubleshoot any more.   My t-stat functions the same as yours, based on everything you've described. I'm definitely interested in hearing what Aprilaire has to say next. I have another unit to be installed on my other HVAC system, but have been...

    Aprilaire 8800 eating batteries?

I originally though it was parasitic 24VAC. I couldn't get anything other than the 'Power outage' message. Then I found a note from Aprilaire that indicates a separate 24VAC source was required by a newer version (which is what I have). I bought the Aprilaire (actually ELK) 24VAC, connected it...

    Aprilaire 8800 eating batteries?

I installed an Aprilaire 8800 about two months ago, with the plan to connect it to my Elk once I get it installed. So far, the tstat has been great, except for the fact that it seems to be draining the batteries very quickly. My understanding was that it ran off the 24VAC that was provided to it...

    Residental w/ rack; wiring question

I've used http://www.xantech.com/ products for IR in a few commercial applications (i.e. conference rooms).

New deployment for Catalyst 3560 vs 3750x Series

I'm not in a netadmin role right now, but use to have rancid set up to monitor close to 20 catalyst switches. It was a pretty quick learning curve, but I did start small and then gradually expanded to the entire environment. I tend to favor the FOSS solutions where it is reasonable.

New deployment for Catalyst 3560 vs 3750x Series

Do the Netgears GS108/110 have any CLI configuration capabilities? I've always used Cisco gear and am accustom to the CLI for not only configuration, but configuration management (automatically logging changes).

More cat5e runs, or a switch?

A local switch will only help with Ethernet devices, not anything that is using baluns, as xlurkr pointed out. The other key factor will be the total throughput needed by all devices on the switch...if the aggregate needs more than the single uplink can provide, you'll be imposing bandwidth...

    What panel is this?

Thanks for the links on the sensors.   Thanks. Hopefully that will help me learn more about the current install.

    What panel is this?

I'm moving into a house that currently has an ASG Security system. From what I've been able to tell so far, there probably is decent coverage with interior motions and glass breaks. I think the motions and glass breaks are hardwired, but haven't confirmed that yet. The doors are monitored with...

    Hello

The GEM is second on the list of tasks once the Insteon stuff is well underway. I've got 37 circuits between two main panels. I think I have it all mapped out as to how to connect to the GEM. I've still got more reading to do on this, though, so that mapping may change in the future.

    Hello

I tinkered with UPB a bit about 6 years ago. I considered UPB again, but like the options for Insteon devices a bit better. I've planned out all the devices that I'll need...something close to 80 devices in total.

    Hello

I'll soon be moving to Maryland. My plan is to install Insteon throughout the house, a GEM from Brultech for electric monitoring, and an Elk M1 for security.
