    Driveway sensor recommendations

I have a Dakota Alert wireless model and it works great. Tried a bunch of different things over the past few years but they didn't work for me. The DA has been installed for a couple years now. Only time it has missed a car, it needed a fresh battery.

    ElkM1G - Newbie Monitoring Question

The M1 can dial up to 8 phone numbers. I don't see why you couldn't use Nextalarm. I use Nextalarm for my monitoring service and just use the POTS..

Does insteon fit standard gang boxes and plastic shrouds?

They will not, easily, fit into a standard utility box if there are anymore wires in it than just for the Insteon device but fit fine in standard outlet/switch boxes. If your building new, have the electrician install all "deep" boxes. That makes life much easier. Running a netural to all...

    Prewiring: The tools

I have some that are as short as 4 inches. I use a angle drill, then add extensions as the auger drills in.

    Prewiring: The tools

These are "ship Augers" http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores...mp;ddkey=Search My set starts at 1/4 inch. Your right about the self feed hole cutters. They do clog on osb.

    Prewiring: The tools

Two words. "Ship Augers" You can get them at any hardware center. You hardly have to hold the drill. They pull themselves thru and cut thru nails also.

    Smoke detectors and the M1G

We ran into this same thing while building. The inspector didnt want to hear anything about any smokes but the 120v ones. Wouldnt discuss it. I had them put one detector right at the Elk location. Then I added a relay to that smoke. The relay is attached to the Elk. I have also added more...
