Thanks, Pete. You may be on to something with the PS. I also recently realized that I can only get it to change temps at 300 baud. Anything higher and it doesn't communicate at all.
Thanks for replying. Considering I can control it remotely, I wonder what the difference is between sending commands and being able to read something from the stat.
The new line unfortunately did not fix the problem. I've attached the pics so maybe someone can eyeball this and spot something I'm missing.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I did remove J8. Interesting thought to ground each pair.
What's most curious to me is that I can program the thermostat but not read it, and that the thermostat flashes multiple times each time I send a command. It's almost as if the signal is so marginal that...
I have had this problem for quite some time and am finally deciding to do something about it.
My Elk M1 Gold cannot read the temperature from the Omnistat 2 RC-1000, connected to an M1XSP . It can send temperature changes, but on the stat it does this weird thing were the new temp flashes five...
It was just a sale. I emailed the author and asked if he would put it on sale for Black Friday and he did. It wouldn't hurt to contact him again and see where you can get.
Does anyone know if just the daughter board can be purchased? I bet it has the exact same firmware as the Zigbee model and all I need to do is plug one in.
Thanks, batwater, for the detailed response. Since posting, I have discovered that my stat actually doesn't have a Zigbee radio. The switches are both Insteon and X10, so that means any solution which can do either will work for them (such as the Elk I currently have). Since I have the Elk...
Awhile back I ordered this stat. I installed it and hooked it up to the Elk using the serial interface. Everything works. Fast forward to today and I am looking at tying everything together (see previous post) and I started to doubt whether or not this stat has Zigbee capabilities. If I go into...
I have an Elk M1 Gold, an Omnistat thermostat, various X10 devices and several Insteon switches. I have been happy so far with the ability to do things like turn the ceiling fans on/off based on temperature from the Elk, but now I have a Google Home device and that really is the holy grail. Is...
