rossw - you must do this professionally - that's a nice looking installation!

    Analog sensor long range

Where I live, we are plagued by summer thunderstorms - and I've observed cloud-to-cloud lightening that's induced a voltage and current high enough to cause a visible arc on a length of wire only several hundred feet long.  For that reason alone I'd favor an RF solution with batteries (and solar...

what is needed to sense a simple closure switch

You're right about inputs being ignored for hobbyists -- I've googled and searched everywhere, and in whilst you will find countless output relay boards and motor drivers and such for hobbyist devices, you'll find next to nothing prebuilt and packaged for interfacing with the *real* world.   I...

WC8, 8ch relay board and safe Mains manipulation

You forgot to include the fuses -- when doing any sort of project like this, it's a very good idea to include a low-current fuse as close to the point where you plug into the mains as possible.  Select the fuse value based on the anticipated load, of course.

    WC8 firmware 3.02.18b released

The other conductors, especially the other half of the pair containing the data conductor, are all connected to the designated ground wire at one end, right?

    Obtaining firmware update?

Support request was promptly handled, I have downloaded and installed the firmware - Thanks! :-)

    Obtaining firmware update?

As I said in the original post, I opened a support case asking how to get the updated firmware.  I tried the CAI support email because I know that this forum is not affiliated with CAI.  But since I got no response from CAI from my support request, I am now posting here.   I'm curious -- why do...

    Obtaining firmware update?

Starting a new project, and I'd like to start with the latest firmware -- alas, I can find no download either on CAI's website nor here.  I tried opening a support case but didn't hear from CAI.  So, what's the secret?  Where do we go to download the latest?   Thanks!

suggestions for enhancements to webcontrol (not 32)

Given everything you're looking for in a PLC, Efried, why not just use a Raspberry Pi instead of the WebControl device?

    Digital Input specs?

Thanks for the details -- that certainly clears things up for me.   Unfortunately, I'd have much preferred the more-common pull-up resistors, since the drivers for the signals I need to tap into are open-collector.   Since I'd rather not hack up the webcontrol board, I'll find a project more...

    Digital Input specs?

Yeah, that's all I got from the manual as well.  And a simple test with a meter shows that the input current is well under 1ma.   But, that's only for simple DC -- I'm in need of enough information about the input to determine how it might affect an existing signal -- for that I need to know the...

    Digital Input specs?

Sorry if this is a FAQ - if so, then I certainly don't know what terms to search on in order to find this information!   I'm in need of the specs for the webcontrol digital inputs (hardware version 2.2.2 if that matters) -- for example, is there a pull-up (or pull-down) resistor, and if so, what...

Need suggestions on Temp Sensor housing

I've generally hidden mine - no container needed that way.   For the ones on the heating system, they're taped to the pipes and wrapped with insulation (to ensure they're measuring the pipe temp and are not influenced too much by the ambient temp).   For the "room" temp sensors, I've arbitrarily...
