    Future of Z-Wave and Zigbee

I have a few Zooz devices now. They have been very reliable. And their support has been quite good too. They run a lot of sales. I just got and email for their 4th of July sale. They have a smoke and CO detector for $24 the 800 series dimmer for $25. And I had asked if they had a dimmer...

Trying to figure out how to move on from SageTV

I'd look at NextPVR for the backend. Runs on both Windows and Linux. Seems stable and the community reminds me a bit of the Sage community. I'm fairly certain that that's where I will end up.

Trying to figure out how to move on from SageTV

Well, I was with Sage for about 18 years. As it became apparent the Sage was not going to go much further as open source, I especially didn't love the Android client, I started searching. I ended up going to Channels DVR. Mostly because they had TVE capability. Which is now getting whittled...

Turned out I had forgotten to stop the Home Assistant instance and it had the com port locked. All is well.

    Pete's Blog PlayOnLinux

Pete - What did you do to get UPStart to run on PlayOnLinux? Mine keeps crashing. What version of Wine is it using and is it 32-bit or 64-bit? I need to make some changes to my dimmers, but I'm running Debian on my server.

    State of the UPB market?

I was in a similar situation. I have about 18 UPB devices currently with 6 to 8 unused modules left. No dimmers or switches. When I started to expand, I decided to go with ZWave and Zigbee devices. And that was a year ago. I really don't believe that UPB will survive for a lot longer. I...

    Speakers Over Coax?

I wouldn't.  RG6 presents an impedance of 75 Ohms.  That might be too much of a load on your amp.  Plus the speaker switchers are usually impedance matching and may not handle that well.    Have you considered using the 2 RG6 cables to pull through a 4 conductor speaker wire?

FireFox browsers do not function - Error 522

I'm not convinced that it's Firefox.  My FF install at home has not been able to access Cocoontech for some weeks.  But my FF install at the office has been working the whole time.  I'm starting to think that Cloudflare is the real culprit.   But who knows.  At home, I fire up Chrome to access...

    email provider suggestions?

I have many domains and 3 are personal name domains for my wife and I.  I have the main ones hosted with an email provider offering Zimbra.  It was great back when.  But not so much anymore.  I am currently evaluating Zoho and it looks good.  They even have a free tier that allows you to use...

    Home music server?

I've been using LMS (Logitech Media Server/SqueezeServer) for ages now.  Open source now.  Lots of clients available like Chromecast and Raspberry Pi devices emulating Squeezeboxes.  Or Squeezebox software emulators.  And a ton of plugins.  It integrates with Home Assistant and OpenHab fairly...
