    Existing Alarm & Automation Options

I ended up going the NX-584 and Vera route.... I thought that if I decided I was really into the home automation scene, I could easily sale the Vera unit and "upgrade" my existing alarm.   I am using my existing original keypad, but in the bedroom I am mounting a semi-permanent Android tablet...

    Z-Wave Tilt Sensor

Thanks for your response. The reason I have not responded until now, is because I thought you idea to use the "true tilt sensor" was a great solution.   However, after looking at the user manual it seems like sensor must be tilted on its horiztonal axis (the manual says "towards the wires")...

    Z-Wave Tilt Sensor

I have been looking for a Z-Wave tilt sensor for use on my garage doors.   I know that others are using these and similar sensors, but I am a little lazy and tilt sensors seem to make more sense to me anyway (yes, I have seen the pics of pieces of 2x4's used to mount them). ^_^   I have...

    GSM Cellular option?

The 4500 is not listed here. But I wonder if your "big distributor" can get the 4550? I finally decided on the 4550 (my thread), but I am trying to find it cheaper than $192 ...

Best Cellular Connection Module for NetworX Panel

Just to be clear. the Uplink website says the following...   For the 4530 - "Uninterrupted Class 2 Power Supply 12V DC/600 mA minimum required"   For the 4550 - "Use UL Listed 16V AC 45VA Transformer" & "Use UL Listed 12V DC, 1.4 AH Battery"   Why the different specifications between the two...

Best Cellular Connection Module for NetworX Panel

Since you suggested the 4530 in your previous post, can you also suggest a power supply and backup battery or a UPS (as Uplink recommends).   A link or place online where I can order this stuff would be great too...   I am wanting to get this stuff ordered very soon, so any additional help...

Best Cellular Connection Module for NetworX Panel

Well I thought that the 4550 came with a power supply, but apparently it does not.... So I am not sure what the reason would be to choose the 4550 over the 4530?   Any input on this?     The info on the 4530 says that it needs a 12V 600mA UPS, but does not give any other information. Anyone have...

Best Cellular Connection Module for NetworX Panel

Is the additional configuration something that I am going to need to do or is the monitoring company going to take care of it when they "take it over"? I know they can do some over the air programming, so I am not exactly sure what that entails. If it is something I need to do, is there an...

Best Cellular Connection Module for NetworX Panel

I called around to a couple of places today that do "monitoring"... I tried all day to get a hold of someone at NextAlarm, but I could never get an answer or a call back...   Anyway, one of the guys at Uplink said I needed to go with a 4550 unit because the NetworX panel would not supply...

Best Cellular Connection Module for NetworX Panel

Can it not run off the power from the panel and therefore also use the same battery backup?   Also, what do you mean by "a zone pair back to the main panel" (sorry I am a real newb)   As of right now, I do not have a monitoring company picked out (do I need to decide that first?) and I...

Best Cellular Connection Module for NetworX Panel

Thank for the info. I will see where I can find a 4530 for cheap ($165 is the cheapest so far).   Are the connections on the 4530 and the panel pretty compatible?   Is there another brand that most people use? Are there other options I am not considering?

Best Cellular Connection Module for NetworX Panel

    NetworX Panel & Smoke Detectors

Thanks for the detailed response!   The reason I thought the cat5 wiring was a part of the smoke detectors in the first place, was because the "Smoke Alarm" terminals on the panel do not have anything hooked up and that cluster of 5 cat5 wires are not hooked up to anything but...

    NetworX Panel & Smoke Detectors

If you look at the picture, there are 2 main types of wiring.... Some that the outer sheath is white and hooked up to the panel and the others that off-white and are not hooked up to the panel.   The off-white ones are the ones with the blue/white combo wired together and nothing else connected...

    Existing Alarm & Automation Options

If that is the case then I am guessing these are the same as the GE 45605... which is cheaper as well.... Nice find!     ETA: I spoke too soon... Out of the 5 Lowes that are within reasonable driving distance, none of them have any of the "Iris" stuff (switches or outlets)...
