I've been wondering how something like this would work as a home automation platform. Would XP or Vista Home work on it or does it need something like small business server software? I'm running Homeseer, Main Lobby and JR Media Center primarily. What do you think? Sure can't beat the price!

For audio, I'd agree with one of the lossless formats. For video, all my movies are in iso including blu-ray. By using DVD Lobby and PowerDVD, a software agent loads/unloads the iso's automatically with either Daemon tools or VCD and playing a movie is as simple as clicking its cover art. Nice...

I use DVD Lobby from Cinemar Solutions to do what your asking. I can launch a movie on any other networked computer or the one I'm using.
