Best low cost route for multiple TVs in house? Cable/Sat?

Ya, I decided to stick.  After checking with Dish, the price I am getting with cr@pcast worked out better with all the equipment I have in place.  It was my box charges that were killing me and bumping it up so high.  Until fiber hits my area (never), I'll probably be with them.   I think this...

Best low cost route for multiple TVs in house? Cable/Sat?

OK, with all the suggestions, I think I have my solution in place.   I went with the HD Homerun Prime, 3 tuner.  I have 5 cheap xbox 360s, so knowing that those could be extenders is what did the deal.   I kept one HD box just in case, and for my slingplayer.   This solution will only cost me...

Best low cost route for multiple TVs in house? Cable/Sat?

I like this option, though I have Macs in the house... and 3 XBox 360s and a XBone.   However, this looks to be a good options; http://cetoncorp.com/products/infinitv-6-ethernet/   Nice call on this, as it would save me at least $25/mo in box charges.   Are you running this or have any...

Best low cost route for multiple TVs in house? Cable/Sat?

Sports... love being able to watch sports from whichever room I'm in.  That's kinda the killer for me.   I have smart tvs in each room, so I can get most of the streaming services, but I need to get live TV to each.     I was thinking of the multi-switch, and that may be an option, though I only...

Best low cost route for multiple TVs in house? Cable/Sat?

Unfortunately not available.   I am able to get ethernet to each TV, if needed.   We have Comcast, Verizon (not FIOS), and of course... Dish.

Best low cost route for multiple TVs in house? Cable/Sat?

Just chatted with Tivo.... they charge $6/box and you must buy the service for everything to work.  Odd.  Not sure how your friend has it set up, but the person specifically said I cannot use the boxes without the fee.

Best low cost route for multiple TVs in house? Cable/Sat?

Ohhhh, that is an interesting solution.  I can have that live above my panel and run the show.  Looks like everything needs to be hard wired, though.   Interesting thing I see; What does TiVo Mini cost? To be activated, TiVo Mini requires: A one-time cost of $99.99 for the unit A...

Best low cost route for multiple TVs in house? Cable/Sat?

I have a new home and 6 TVs spread out through the place.  I am currently signed up with Comcast, but am hating the extra costs of the additional boxes they require you to rent. (Cannot buy, thanks, comcast)   Does anybody know the best route to go, and would you recommend Dish over Comcast?  I...

Thermostat Q: Double pole vs Single... can I?

Yup, I'm hosed.  I'm not going to screw with the 4 wire to 2 wire conversion, as it appears to be pretty certain that I'd be screwed.  I appreciate the input, and since there was no, 'oh... that's easy, just do this', I'm opting for another route and just picking up a couple 2 wire therms...

Thermostat Q: Double pole vs Single... can I?

I wouldn't be switching out the bare ground wire, as I wouldn't even be connecting it.  Since there is no metal on the thermostat, the ground is not needed and can be removed from the nut.  This seems to be the common theme on all boards.   I didn't know if joining them or leaving one set...

Thermostat Q: Double pole vs Single... can I?

So, in my new home my electrician decided to install cheap thermostats (single pole) that I need to get replaced with some thermostats I bought.  Unfortunately, I thought they'd all be pretty much the same... I was wrong.   My new thermostat; - Double pole - 4 wires   Old thermostat; - Single...

Wireless router and unmanaged switch set-up

The TP-Line is an unmanaged switch, correct.   I have a line going from the modem into the ASUS router, and from there I have plugged a line into the #1 position of my 24 port switch.   And i attempted to connect to the router by LAN, but it would assign an IP.  It was not a direct connection...

Wireless router and unmanaged switch set-up

Well, I was finally able to move into my home and get things going.  The plus, my wireless connection is up and running and I'm able to type this up without taking away Verizon data.  The minus;   I cannot connect to any of my LAN ports in my Gigabit switch.   Here is the connection inline; 1 -...

Wireless home set-up - AP vs Extender

Wow, that was simply awesome.   Thank you for all that information.  I went with the lesser indoor version, as the only wireless devices that access the AP won't require the high speeds.  I hard wired much of my house so that most devices that have the ability to be hard wired, will get it.   I...
