Have you looked at BlueIris? http://www.blueirissoftware.com/ That seems to be what most are using if not iSpy ;)

    Wi-Fi LED lights.

Some manufactures like Philips(hue) have released an API or SDK or plan to soon, probably because users were using Wireshark to capture commands anyways. If the LIFX bulbs don't have an API or SDK it is good to know you can get the commands to intergrade into your system. I used the manufactures...

Anyone else using a Thin Client

I had read about that however my development skills are limited to androids and windows run devices. I did play around with Linux a bit  but just never stuck with it long enough to get comfortable.

    Wi-Fi LED lights.

Yeah, I guess they're like a x10 socket rocket but with a bulb already attached. Still I use the Milight(Easybulb) ones in my setup with x10.

    Canadian Off grid HA user.

Many here that frequented the X10 forum will know me as I was a administrator there. I'm located in Southern Ontario I've been a long time X10 users and once X10 introduced the Cm15a I soon became a programmer as I soon found ActiveHome Pro couldn't do everything I needed it to. I have several...

Which OS/Programs do you use for your HA server?

I run Windows 7 64 bit, I have 8 on a laptop and hate it but it isn't a touch screen. Drivers were a issue switching to 64 bit for some hardware. It also require some hardware replacement as no drivers were available. Bluetooth works fine with 7 and better then on XP I have all my programs...

    Thoughts on occupancy sensing?

Some time ago I developed software that many use for occupancy sensing. There is a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi version both have their plus and minuses. Currently they interface with X10 PC interfaces for X10 control of lights. However you could send a  command to another program that uses something else...

Wireless key alternetive using z-wave sensor?

Not sure if   the BlueWatch(BT)  program would do what your looking for  but it will perform tasks when specific blue tooth devices are detected. There also is a Wi-Fi version that performs tasks when Wi-Fi devices are detected. These will also perform tasks when the device is lost(device is no...

    Wi-Fi LED lights.

Several manufactures have produced Wi-Fi lights which have been around for some time now. I figured these would be great for my off grid setup and soon had something setup. I'm just wondering if anyone else is using these and their opinions on them?

Anyone else using a Thin Client

Being a developer I was approached about creating something for a Thin Client. Since this is a low powered fan less PC I thought it would be perfect for my off grid home.  The software is currently in beta testing but testers have been wondering about increasing memory & or drive space.  I've...

    Hello World from Canada

I've a small setup on a totally off grid log home in Southern Ontario,Canada. This is one I built from scratch using a horse to pull the logs out of the bush and simple block and tackle to hoist the logs. I soon discovered a pure sine wave inverter was a must for home automation. This is slowly...
