CocoonTech stopped by the iRobot booth during CES 2011 to see what new product lines they were showcasing.

iRobot, which is mainly known for their vacuum sweeping robots, is offering three new robots deemed the 760, 770 and 780 models.  The new models are an addition to their line as the 500 original series will still be available.

These new products offer better battery life, superior cleaning performance, and increased intelligence over their previous models.

They also avoid the problems with hair infiltration and entanglement by covering the gear box and bearing ends so hair can't be wound around the axles.  Their brushes were redesigned to pickup fine particles better due to a combination of stiffer brushes combined with smaller ones.  iRobot touts a 20% performance increase with this new brush scheme.

New features with these models include HEPA filtration, increased batter life (50% better) and larger collection bins.

New dirt detection hardware now offers optical as well as acoustic detection.  The software algorithms will now go over a dirty spot until it is detected clean.  Additional software improvements include an adaptive responsive technology so the robots can get around furniture such as table legs better!.

iRobot is also offering a new, smaller Scooba model that is made to clean hard floors in small areas such as bathrooms.  It features a three step cleaning technology by first laying a cleaning solution down, scrubbing that area, then collecting the dirty water in a collection bin.  Its brushes are designed to be easily removed and rinsed clean.
