Do the SYSRegister executables work with Windows CE 5.0 ARM or x86?

The executables for CE.NET and 3.0 are found under subdirectories in: ...\Premise\SYS\web\WinCE

I believe CE.NET is the same as CE 4.2, but I'm not sure...

Its been a long time, but if I recall, the sysregister will work w/ an ARM processor. I had used it on an old telephone? Or was it a Dell Axim X3? X5? In any event, I believe it did work. It was just the Dell was slow, slow....

Chuck, thanks for the reply

The device I'm looking at is the Viewsonic V212-003 (which appears to have an ARM processor). However, the V212 runs CE 5.0 and the Premise help file only talks about using SYSRegister with CE.NET and CE 3.0 devices. So I guess my question is does CE 5.0 = CE.NET or are CE.NET programs compatible with CE 5.0...?

I too was able to use the SYSRegister on a Dell Axim x51v running the latest windows mobile version (that supported activex under ie), but it was too slow to use with the automation browser.

Chuck, you may very well be right. I was making an assumption about 4.2 being .net from a note from wikipedia:

"CE v3.0 is the basis for Pocket PC 2002. A successor to CE v3.0 is CE.net"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_CE

I don't think it matters as I researched things more and it appears many CE 4.2 apps will run on CE 5.0. Considering you got SYSRegister to work on your phone and PDA, I bet it will work fine on the V212.

PS: if you haven't looked at it yet, the V212-003 is an interesting device:

I ordered one and will report back here with the results. Considering the V212 is native 800x600 (same as the AB) and may work with SYSRegister, it could be worth purchasing a few if you can find them cheap (less than $125) ;) The one thing that worries me is the batteries for the V212...where do you find them? Also, as you said earlier the AB may run slow on it, but I guess I'll find out in a week or so.

Here's a reply I got back from Viewsonic about 2 years ago when I asked about a battery for the V210:

Dear Valued Customer,
The part# for the battery is M-MS-0808-8435, you can place the order online in our parts store. Thank you!

Thank you,

Thanks Tom. How do you like the V210 for home automation? Online, they look like ideal touchscreens for HA, but I've never seen or used one.

Seems to run SYS pretty well. Even plays mp3's through the AB. There's a small delay when compared to a newer PC, but just by a second or less. Much faster than my Dell Axim was. All I did to get things working open the browser and point it to:
Code:
http://[premiseserver]/WinCE/ARM/CE.NET/sysregister.exe

Note if you have an x86 processor point it to:
Code:
http://[premiseserver]/WinCE/x86/CE.NET/sysregister.exe

The V212 must have been a top touchscreen in 2006...
