Joining Chat

Quick question, maybe I can get answer before tonight. Do I need to install anything to be able to get into the chat? I have had no luck so far hitting the chat link. All I get is a blank white window with a little x in the left hand corner. Maybe the chat link only works at a certain time and my timmings been off? Oh well hope I make it tonight.
