Last stages of prewiring ..Advice Needed Please

One thing to keep in mind if you are going to daisy chain cat5 for lighting control. Depending on the system there may be a limit to the number of nodes on the chain. I did a system like that about 7 years ago and if I remember correctly the limit was less than ten. I do not remember exactly...

    Electric motors

This may sound odd but I have seen garage door openers used for dumb-waiters. Set up the opener in the attic and attach a cable where you would normally attach the door. Add a couple of strategically palced pulleys and you are all set. The nice thing about this is you can operate it remotely...

    ANy Mathmaticians out there?

Well for what it is worth when you are talking about dB with audible sound every 10dB is double the sound level. For example if 10dB = loud then 20dB = 2 times loud, 30dB = 4 times loud, etc..... Rob

    Mounting wood studs into concrete

Also I suggest you use pressure treated lumber. Regular studs will wick the moisture our of the concrete and cause problems over time. If you have an aversion to the pressure treated lumber put a heavy plastic vapor barrier behind the wood. Rob

    Z-Wave Dry Contact

Monitoring the status of the doors is not the problem, the Elk wireless solution is in use. What I want to do is be able to close the door without running any new wire. Rob

    Z-Wave Dry Contact

I would like to add contol of my garage doors from an Elk M1G without pulling wires. I know that there are powerline modules that provide momentary dry contact but I would rather use z-wave. Does a z-wave momentary dry contact product exist? If so can you point me in that direction? If not...
