ELK M1 Demo Video - M1 in Action Videos?

Hi; Looking to get an M1.  Are there any demo videos from someones home.   I want to see and hear the sound of the voice announcements from the SP12F flush speaker.  I want to hear the telephone operation of the system.   I want to hear KP2 tones (arm, disarm, alarm, etc) Just a overall demo...

Wiring my house for Network! Yet another thread!

I personally would want to see the wires in the front for easy access to add new lines in future or replace existing ones. Yes the twist and mount might save a little space in the panel and look neater but when you have a problem or need to add a new network line I think it will be a a headache...

Wiring my house for Network! Yet another thread!

Isnt something like this better? I like the fact that the punchdown block is on the front. This way you dont have to remove from cabinet to add a new ethernet line. http://www.ebay.com/...9-/180966428670 Or Like this: http://www.amazon.com/Steren-550-030-FastHome-Data-Hub/dp/B000EHW88Q

How to mount garage contact closure

On the floor it might be easier to tamper with from the outside with a strong magnet. Wheres on top of the garage door you have more protection from a magnet and from damage caused by repeated exposure to elements and vehicles.

wiring GRI 2800 on Elk panel

Seems like the GRI 2600 is the way to go then. Its good that its a fail safe design, so if there is a broken power wire it will alarm. Has anyone here used them in pools as a way to turn on a pump when the water level gets too high?

    Cheap wiring solution

Question for OP: On the perimeter wall of the structure (where the structure rests on the foundation) is there any room for running cable? In houses I have seen there are two bottom plates which lift the house about 3 inches off the foundation. Those bottom plates are usually located on the...

    Window/Door contacts for ELK M1

Looks like vinyl or some sort of plastic window from the picture. We install surface mount contacts with screw down terminals. Put the contacts in the corners of window and frame if possible (far left, far right). This way when you install Venetian blinds, or curtains they will be mostly...

    Building a new house

I like to keep my systems separate. Is it just me? For alarm I use Napco or Ademco. For structured wiring I use Leviton enclosures with Cat5e or Cat6.

    New project kickoff

Hi; Good Idea on the cat5e / 6 cable, good upgrade path to IP cameras in future. If you can, consider running 1 inch conduits from bedroom multimedia outlet locations to attic or basement (whichever closer). Wiring needs may change in future and its much easier to push cables down a conduit...
