Would like to add low cost temperature sensor to OmniProII. Can this be done with thermistor or thermocouple ?

Recently bought house that has Omni Pro 11. No documentation so doing a lot of research. Omni Pro 11 had some programs that ran automatically (lights that came on at night etc.) but have since stopped. This started around the time when I installed UPstart. Any thoughts on what I should try...
