In the previous post I said, “pay me now or pay me laterâ€. It slapped me after I made the post that the dual shield cable was more expensive. This is because the dual shied 1694A is sold as a “low loss†cable. The loss difference stated on the datasheets is approximately 1db per 100ft. For...
The difference between the two cables is the number of shield layers. The 7916A is quad shield cable and the 1694A is a dual shield cable. My understanding is that the solid copper core is critical on the new satellite installs as the bandwidth used on the cable is higher. The solid copper helps...
It's all in the marketing....
"Sure I can fix the hot water heater"....."I'll just need a new MAP gas torch"
"Kitchen cabinets"......"No problem, I'll use the NEW tablesaw for that"
"Sure I can make the lights dim"......"We'll need the good UPB switches to do that" + "their on sale at AO"
"You...
At the risk of dating myself, I find it interesting that we have now gone full circle. The original 10 megabit ethernet was big yellow coax followed by thin-net (smaller coax). So now we are back to......coax.
Craig,
Here is one idea; Use a low power FM stereo transmiter (something like this http://www.ramseyelectronics.com/cgi-bin/c...&key=FM25B) at the TV and a standard FM receiver located with the Niles ZR6. There is usually a frequency in every area that can be used without making neighbors upset...
beelzerob, do you have any VHF stations (chan 2-12) that you want to receive? The PR-8800 is UHF only where as the 160" RS that you have is a VHF/UHF hybrid. So, you might just want that 160" giant.
For mass termination (if your using a backboard as apposed to a can) I have used the sheetmetal bracket idea like beelzerob suggested. Here are a couple of pictures of at least one way to do it.
Another option is to use a small bathroom vent fan (a quiet one) like the Panasonic unit at the link below. I put one of these at the top of an A/V equipment closet and it worked well.

Use the Duct Stat above and youv'e got an...
I’m a diy-selfer and I think Home Depot carrying HAI products is a good thing. For everyone involved.
I’m a diy-selfer for a couple of reasons, one I can and two since I can, I save a little money (umm most likely a lot of money). My guess is that most folks that go to Home Depot to buy an HAI...
sda,
You are close to accomplishing what you want to do. On pin 3, I would create a voltage divider between V+ (6v) and ground, in your case just add a 10k resistor from pin 3 to ground (leave the existing 10k resistor). This will set the trip threshold to approximately 3 volts (with a 6 volt...
Chuck,
I'm with you. Part of maintaining WAF (at our house) is that it must being working when installed. To that end I built this fixture so I can program a whole room worth of switches/modules and see them all work (scenes and all) before they go in the house for general consumption.
Here is a source for nylon screws:

The screw-less faceplates are a great idea and do look nice!
But remember, the charge that you develop will be discharged at the next nearest ground point. :o
