Plan - Win7 MC, My Movies, Xbox .. and??

You could always go the SageTV route... they have great extenders that run without fans and with a harmony remote even my wife who isn't a big fan of techie gadgets loves it. Also a port of My Movies is currently being developed for SageTV

    A/C remote control over internet

Mine are the same way, two of the units are in off mode when returning from a "power outage" and the other actually completely resets so it doesn't even keep the same temp settings, and it defaults to on in fan only mode.

    A/C remote control over internet

Curious on how you completed this.... I wanted do something similar with a Global Cache GC-100 unit control by HCA, but I didn't go that route as I wasn't sure what commands I should send it. How do you make sure when you turn it on it's at the proper temp? Do you have any sort of system in...

    Monitoring pool temperatures

I've been thinking about doing something similar, but I would want to monitor the temp in our fish aquarium. Curious to see what solution you end up with.

Did you ever get anna working on win2k3? I've been trying to get it running on WHS and it sounds very pingy.

elec, cat5e and RG6 in the same wall cavity??

Thanks for the feedback everyone... The elec. will be done by a contractor friend of mine, but he hasn't done much low voltage stuff. He said by code, I would be all set, but I wasn't sure about interference... I do plan to attach the wires to the studs of the cavity to provide as much space...

elec, cat5e and RG6 in the same wall cavity??

Yes, this would be all of my low voltage wiring. On our 2nd floor we have 2 bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. I plan on doing one drop to living room, dining room, and the two bedrooms with a future drop to the kitchen when we remodel. This is the cable I'm using for each...

elec, cat5e and RG6 in the same wall cavity??

I'm starting work on updating my place.... it's an old 2 story 2 family house. We live on the 2nd floor, my grandfather lives on the first. We have a full basement and a unfinished attic space. I plan on adding a storage room in the basement which will have a wiring closest which will contain...

    thermometer ideas

I was actually thinking about putting the remote sensor in the freezer and having the unit itself outside of the freezer.

Thanks for that... I know HCA supports the W800, that's why I asked... maybe I'll inquire to see if they can add support for the rfxcom devices.

    thermometer ideas

Well I'd actually prefer something that gives me the actual temp. I know I could get a contact closure sensor, but I rather get the actual temp, so like I said above, I can have different warnings based on what the temp is.

does these sensors work with the W800? Also how long do the batteries last in those sensors. Right now I've been eyeballing the RF Sensors from rfxcom.com, but the currency conversion isn't great right now :-(

    thermometer ideas

This morning I woke up to find out that our stand up freezer in the basement was left ajar and we lost quite a bit of meat that had thawed... Mostly stuff that was on the door which included some game meat that was given to us by my father in law. So I'm bumming and don't want to experience this...

Good home network data and backup solution

Any size or style... you can have sata, pata, usb... pretty much anything. I have 5 different disks in my whs box ranging from .5tb to 1.5tb. I trust it, there was an issue with data corruption on duplicated files... i forget the exact details, but I know it's been resolve since power pack 1. I...
