WHA experts: help with my well laid-out DIY plan

jwilson: Do you use the Xitel things just to up your 4 zones to 6 using your ipod? That wouldn't be necessary for me if I just wanted 4 zones correct? I always thought that running multiple sound cards on a PC wasn't possible (at least in Windows). Am I wrong? Could I use the Delta 410 card...

WHA experts: help with my well laid-out DIY plan

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated. bfisher: I actually want all of the amps together in the wiring closet with the speaker wire running out to each room. I like the idea of your sound card with 4 stereo outputs, but I want to be able to have different audio playing simultaneously in...

    HA Newbie:CQC, Homeseer or other?

You will see how fresh I am with this post. As I understand it, with Girder I would be using a PC as the controller (brain) with Girder as the software for it. I would use input devices (touchscreens, pdas) for user input, all of which would go to controlling devices such as switches for...

    HA Newbie:CQC, Homeseer or other?

Your setup looks really nice jwilson. I like your touchpad and pda use, and might consider stealing your idea. However, I don't want to use x-10, I would prefer Z-Wave. I might even banish wireless altogether but that isn't concrete. Therefore, I don't think girder is suitable for my application.

    HA Newbie:CQC, Homeseer or other?

I will be living in small(ish) apartments for quite a few years seeing as I'm a Vancouverite in my early 20's (for those unaware, Vancouver is a city with ridiculous real estate prices). Therefore, a very important feature for me is movability. I want equipment that lends itself to being picked...
