The Cree Connected bulbs aren't clear, but they look like a traditional bulb with the exception of some vents in the top and bottom.  Bonus: They're cheap for smart bulbs.

Over on diysecurityforum everyone is high on 2GIG and DSC systems.  You may want to take a look there too.

I saw lots of cameras that advertised facial recognition.  That could be really neat if the home automation tie in comes in down the road.  I'm thinking customized actions for each family member.  But, I'm sure that's going to be a few years yet.
