Do I have a neutral wire?

Ok, so in my case, for the switch on the left, I'd tie the white from the UPB switch into the white neutral wire nut, UPB black to the hot black, and the UPB red to the other black?

Do I have a neutral wire?

OK. So this looks like I should have what's needed to support the UPB dimmers? When I looked at the HAI 35A00 600w dimmer installation manual, it looks like there is a black (hot), ground, neutral (white), and then a red wire going to the light(s). It looks like I have two 14/2 wires with ground...

Do I have a neutral wire?

I'm going to start investing in UPB, but I just want to make sure I have what I need at the switch locations. I've read some posts and information about requiring a neutral at the switch. My house was just built about 18 months ago so I *think* I should be ok, but want to be sure. In the...

Elk - one zone not working properly

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll try moving to a different Elk zone and swapping the magnets. If a zone is disabled, would I still get the email rule I setup if the zone goes not secure, or would I need to enable it? I just can't afford another false alarm at 3:30 AM...wife was not happy...

Elk - one zone not working properly

I am not using an EOL resistor. All zones are NC and report 0 volts, with the exception of this one, which seems to read 0.1, but only once in a while (it's happened twice in about 7 days). I used the continuity tester and the wire seems OK...

Elk - one zone not working properly

I finished up a new Elk install a couple of weeks ago. I have 2 windows in my garage that are wired to one zone. The other night at 3:30 AM the alarm went off....I went down to check and both windows were secure with no signs of tampering. I checked ElkRP and the voltage for that zone said 0.1...

    Trouble connecting the ELK-M1XIN

I think I have this right, yet the M1XIN is not enrolling. I terminated with an RJ45 (568A) into the data bus hub. I connected the following from the other end of the cat5 cable to the M1XIN: +12V - brown Data A - orange Data B - white/orange Negative - white/brown Hoping I maybe just have the...

Finally setting up Elk - few questions

Awesome thanks. One more thing... I noticed there are 3 V-AUX outputs. I have 7 or 8 devices needing power (motions, glass breaks, etc). Do I need an Elk-PD9 for this purpose, or can I power it all from the main unit?

Finally setting up Elk - few questions

Hi Finally setting up my Elk M1G after over a year. I am a little rusty because I did all my research so long ago. Was hoping for some clarification on a few questions: - Input Expander - Do I wire this right into the ELK-M1DBH ? I assume I can just run the 4 wires it needs, and terminate into...

    Russound Keypad in LV Bracket

Just curious, I am installing my 2-gang boxes right now for Nuvo keypads. What is the standard height? I have the bottom of the box around 51". Does that seem about right?

mounting motion and glass break sensors

Yes WAF is a concern. I was just concerned about having the sensor not cover the box, in a corner mount for example.

mounting motion and glass break sensors

Instead of relying on the pictures, won't most drywall contractors just pull the wire through when they put up the drywall? I was planning on using that method for flush mounting the Elk KP2 keypads with the ELK-M1BBK2 back box. Thanks

mounting motion and glass break sensors

I am doing the wiring in my new house now, just wanted to make sure on this... Do I need single gang boxes behind the motion sensors or is it good enough to just pull the wire through the sheet rock before surface mounting? I purchased the Bosch ISM-BLP1-P. For glass breaks I bought these...
