Hi,
I am not able to get some info on this situation and would love to hear opinions of fellow cocooners!
For a large master bedroom surround sound setup (20' x 20'), I am planning to use in-ceiling polk speakers (rc80i) as rear surounds.
The TV is mounted on a tiled wall, and I have to...
Looks like many are looking into apple devices as cheaper alternatives for multi-room hardware. And the current apple devices are almost there in getting the job done! But with the current limits, as discussed above, doesn't make it usable I think.
I haven't worked with the current appletv...
Thanks for that suggestion InspiredTim - truly inspired :)
Yes - since all Sonos is doing is providing a wireless interface to control which track to play, I could do that with a bunch of airport express instead (one for each zone/room - 16 to be precise). Then I can use the apple remote app...
Thanks so much for your detailed explanations. Makes things quite clear.
Yes, the ONQ system (yes - its basically anABUS system) is really only serving as the physical backbone and audio delivery system for the house - basically just to turn on/off the speakers as actual song selection/volume...
I have been considering using Sonos Zoneplayer 90 devices as the music source for the entire house (hooked up to ONQ audio distribution system). This is because the whole house audio will be basically just going to stream music from a music server (pc/osx itunes server) and room users can use...

I am also considering using Sonos Zoneplayer 90...
Thanks for that suggestions Desert_AIP!

Wow...thakns Jeff for such great information!
I dug a little deeper and found a few further options:
1. ZOn audio - this is also based off abus structure but its keypads can provide upto 60W total which can be divided into upto 10 speakers (if used with 25V trnasformers). I agree that the...
Thanks for all the great advice here!
Yes - you are right - the house IS wired for abus/digi-5 system.
To confirm, I have a paid of 16/2 wire connecting a room speaker to that room's keypad location and 1 cat5 connecting the keypad to the home control location.
I was hesitant to move towards...
Hi all
I am really hoping for some guidance on this issue:
My house has been pre-wired for whole house audio in the following way:
- keypads location (gangplate only) in each zone
- cat5 home runs from keypad location to central control (basement)
- ceiling speakers pair in each zone
- wiring...
