Simply Automated Switches vs. Leviton UPB

For the record... Simply Automated products are 100% compatible with Gen I, II and III UPB.  They all communicate with and be programmed through split-phase and three-phase repeaters (whatever the Gen.).  They are compatible with many control systems including the Leviton/HAI OMNI panels...

Difference between HAI "LED/CFL" Dimmer and non-LED/CFL?

All Simply Automated Dimmers will dim loads as low as 1 watt (e.g. neon bulb), which is ideal for dimming LED and fluorescent fixtures.  That is an important fact.  Very few 'dimmers' can dim loads, especially LEDs, with such a low wattage.   As many have experienced, dimming LEDs to a nice or...

Finally - UPB Fan Speed Controller

Wow!  You guys are great!! We really appreciate the comments (good and bad).   You are correct buttons can be configured like any other UPB button mode; however the fan output wire is directly wired through the LEDs.  That is, one of the top 3 LEDs needs to be on to power the fan.  No LED lit no...

    Lighting Control

Howdy Mike,   If the wiring and walls are finished it is tough job moving wires (from the fixture connection to the load controlling switch location).   If you can move wires, many people simply mount standard light switch junction boxes to a central location.  For example, behind a door in the...

About to order, need some last minute advice.

Howdy N49atv,   I have a 1950 sqft house and the street side transformer is about 60feet from my (200A) breaker panel. Signals on one phase leave the house and are inverted and sent back into the house from the street side transformer.  I have no phase coupler and have never had an issue with...

    HAI AND UPSTART ISSUES

There are actually three different ways to status an Omni panel and when using UPB and scene links: slow(HLC), medium(HLC with scene link rules) and fast (flags).  We have an application note discribing the three processes. ...

Here is what I was able to find http://www.linuxha.com/other/intro_ha.html .  From what I've read Misterhouse seems to support an open source Perl based solution http://misterhouse.sourceforge.net/.

The registers are one part the operating memory is another.  The chip used in most all UPB is very limmited on memory, which is the main problem.

If the noise is in the UPB communication band (4K to 40K Hz) then UPStart software and a computer interface module is all that is needed.  There is a signal/noise meter function in UPStart that uses the interface module to sense the power line.  Other than that, and o-scope is best for braodband...

Howdy Pete,   Regarding the USB PIM, we recently (Dec. 2012) corrected an issue with UPStart and the USB PIM connection (it would only connect 1/2 the time).  It was fixed in UPStart V6.0 B13.  I strongly recommend not using any UPStart version earlier than V6.0 B13 as there were some other...
