I've only had one or two devices actually fail to the point of being unusable (out of ~30). I've replace probably a half dozen switches/keypads of flicker issues but the replacements have been fine. I do agree however that the "look and feel" of the newer switches have gone down in quality...

Good timing on the release of the new beta. My trial had run out a week earlier and I was on the fence between Houselinc and Powerhome. The much improved Insteon explorer and the realtime update was enough to push me to PH. Rob

Over on accessx10.com a guy has written Group Commander for Windows which should do exactly that. Personally I've been using Powerhome with great success in managing my links. I don't know about the others but Powerhome has the ability to easily rebuild links for failed devices.

I take it you have one and like it? 1- How hard was it to install the heat pipes? 2- What type of system are you running? How's your temps? 3- How useful is the VFD? 4- How many drives can you stuff in that thing?

I noticed that as well on a few links I had created doing the tap-tap method. I just deleted the links and re-created them via software. My guess is the links were corrupt in the device database.

I have the USB PowerLinc but I think it supports serial as well. You can either add devices manually by entering their address or using discovery mode and tapping each device so it shows up in Powerhome. Once devices are entered it will discover all of the links and presents each device it in...

I've been extremely happy with Insteon in general and the KeypadLincs in particular. IMO the biggest weakness in the KL's is that there is no software to program them yet. You have to program each button manually. Doesn't sound bad until you have 4-5 devices controlling the same light. Other...
