Late Update to this: I finally bought the Panasonic KX-TG7745 instead. It has intercom system that let me label each extention. It works pretty well. It also support bluetooth linking to a cell phone and the cell line, but I have not tried it yet. P.K.

It really is the user interface, and that DECT I think works better for voice than wifi. I am hoping that the handset is a bit easier to use in intercom mode. Of course this is all from just reading the user manuals, not actually trying out the unit. We'll see if it life up to the expectation...

So after reading the user guides for both grand streams and gigaset I am leaning towards getting either the c610 or the hybrid IP version to try. Their UI seems better and the are going after the "family" market. Only bad thing is for some reason no one has the black base station version...

I am looking to setup a intercom system in the house. Conceptually something that works like office phone based intercom would be the best -- i.e. easily page all or a specific handset by location. I was hoping that some of these DECT 6.0 phone system will do this, but they do not -- or rather...

Controlthink, a great bunch of people, did have an SDK that works with .NET -- it was a good start but has bugs. Leviton bought them and now the SDK is no longer offered. Openzwave is the only thing out there, but it is not really supported or helped by the manufacturers -- anyone jump in here...

Ah. Me neither. I have the LCD version also. In fact, I bought both, opened the LCD one. Tried it, and seeing how much key pressing and menu'ing I needed to get it programmed, I returned the non-LCD version and exchanged for another LCD one. (proud owner of 4 of these guys at $9.95 each).

One problem in this space is that the hardware manufacturers are clueless when it come to software. How often do you hear someone says "can I use this with an iPad?" The HW guys are used to making money from licensing their tech or their chipset. So they want to license their software spec which...

#2 does work. My setup is similiar to the OP, I have a vizia controller as primary, and my GE is secondary. So I am just adding a dimmer device "to key" as the device is already in the network, which was replicated to the GE secondary. Now does anyone know if I can replicate a secondary GE...

When you select "Add", you can select "Add to Network" vs "Add to Key". "Adding to key" will associate the device to a key, which is not the same as adding to the network.

I was wondering about that too. After re-reading the (very poorly done) instruction on the dimmer, it seem that there are different modes with the the air gap switch: - just lift the push pad "until the air gap switch is engaged and a click is heard" - push the pad back in -- then it will go...

Now that I have a few GE ZWave controllers I really want to just send one fully configured one to another without having to configure the other one. However, these are all secondary controllers in my network. Can this be done? i.e. secondary to secondary copy? Thanks, P.K.

I picked up a few of them around boston today. Great deal -- these things actually are pretty good, and for $10 it's great.

I can answer my own question now -- I didn't realized the leviton wall dimmers has a special "button" to put it into program mode -- you need to pull the "paddle" out from the bottom until it clicks on the top. That's how to tell the dimmer to send it's information to the handheld controller.
