I was looking at taking out my Vista 20 and putting in an HAI as I want to tie something into my lights, thermostat, cameras, etc. but in comparing the HAI and the HomeSeer it appears to be redundant to have both. Will one do something the other will not? Any reasonable point to having both?

$40 a month? They better come to my house and personally check my alarm for this! If you guys don't find a solution let me know and I will check with my subs as they have a variety of monitoring solutions available I believe.

I believe all points above are valid but you also need to consider if you have pets. As previously mentioned I like these for the fact of stopping them outside the house versus already being in the house. Wire them in and set the alarm. If you can trip the alarm simply by shaking your keys...

How high is your motion? Motion detectors send beams down and around and the way we usually get around this is as the last comment started on, we mount them around 4-5ft upside down so all they see is that height and above. Downside is if you know this and crawl!
