Long distance wi-fi - UAP questions (split topic)

Really!? I have a 12v supply for closet LED lights and stair lights in the vacinity of my switch. I may actually use that and save some PoE ports since that switch was not cheap!

Long distance wi-fi - UAP questions (split topic)

I use these devices all the time. They are excellent. The longest reach I setup was in Eastern WA, line of sight at 3 miles and we get 110Mbps uplink. It has been going for over a year without a hiccup. I have only had one issue with these devices and it turned out to be bad cat5 connector. I...

    Revolv with 7 automation radios

I see the face of home automation changing drastically with these devices. I look forward to a day where I am spending hours on programming my netduino boards instead of tweaking the actual system. I have used most over the last 20 years from X10s first software package and none have impressed...

    Outdoor Surveillance camera help/suggestion needed

Acti has some newly released cameras in that price range with good quality. Take a look at the E32/E33 for bullets and the E72/3 for domes. Not sure how it works with the Elk but they support ONVIF.

    LED Light Recommendations

The puck's that I ordered were great. I was actually worried that they had a strange looking grid of LED that was highly visible in the light, but once I had them installed, the large visible LEDs actually look great and add a modern flair to the pucks. As for light, I went with the warm LEDs...

    LED Light Recommendations

Quixote_1, I think it is on topic. A company that shirks support like that isn't somebody I want to deal with in the long run, I'll pay a bit extra out the door. With that in mind, I ordered Super Bright LEDs these today. I chose these for a few reasons: 1. I plan to put three of them along...

    LED Light Recommendations

Thanks! I am leaning towards low voltage simply for ease if installation since this is a retro fit and will require less drywall patching. Plus, I should be able to light most of the closets with one PSU using LED. All are great options. I'll do some research and post the results.

    LED Light Recommendations

I have 120v door switches, but was leaning towards low voltage strips or flush mount pucks.

    LED Light Recommendations

I am currently replacing closet doors and have door switches that will turn on LED light bars once the door is opened. Just a simple circuit. My question, it seems there are a ton of LED companies out there, has anybody had good luck with any specific ones?

    CQC vs Elve user comparison

Regarding WMCE driver. I turned the source over to Johnny, but I don't know if he has done anything with it. I used WCF for communication between WMCE and the driver and a freeware MP3 tag library. I believe he'd want to rewrite those to use his own TCP protocol and MP3 library (pure assumption...

    CQC vs Elve user comparison

I used Elve and wrote a Window's Media Center driver for it a while back. I am not using anything now and starting to work on a whole new system (ex got the last one). I haven't used CQC so I cannot give a direct comparison. I personally liked Elve for a number of reasons. The biggest reason...

UPB/ZWave/Insteon version of a socket rocket?

Thanks, ZWave has a socket rocket, but no stick on switch, UPB has a stick on switch that is considerably more expense ~250 for receiver and switch. I think I'll stick with X10 on this one, thanks for the information tho!

UPB/ZWave/Insteon version of a socket rocket?

Hello all, its been a while since I have been on the forum (divorce sort of got in the way of all automation projects)... Anyway, I am in a rental temporarily which has the most annoying light switch placement (e.g. have to leave the room, walk down the hallway to turn on the light) and I wanted...

    ipad

I see one major issue with this device in terms of home automation: no replaceable battery. While you may get 2 years on a battery before the battery life degrades to a point that it becomes an issue, you'll have to live without the device for a couple of weeks to get a battery replaced. This...

This is great, #20 should fix issues with receiving the arm/disarm events in J9's automation engine!
